Why is it that some people can do arithmetic in their heads extremely fast, but can't do other math well

Everyone is built different. Some can blast through mechanics, electrical, logic, and other areas faster than others.
Remember that even a moron can do something as well as or better than someone else. Some are better with their hands than others as well.
