How do I express this word problem vector in terms of i and j

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-06-11] [Hit: ]
Any help is greatly appreciated. The horizontal component is Acos(theta) and the vertical is Asin(theta). You can conceptually visual this by drawing a diagonal line labeling it 44, and then drawing its horizontal and vertical components, hence forming a right triangle. The vertical line would be opposite the angle hence the sin(theta).......
"A quarterback releases a football with a speed of 44 feet per second at an angle of 30 degrees with a horizontal."

I know what the answer is, but I want to learn how to get that answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

44cos(30) i + 44sin(30) j
22sqrt(3) i + 22 j

The horizontal component is Acos(theta) and the vertical is Asin(theta). You can conceptually visual this by drawing a diagonal line labeling it 44, and then drawing its horizontal and vertical components, hence forming a right triangle. The vertical line would be opposite the angle hence the sin(theta).
