Solving equations with rational expressions. Solve each equation and check the answers
1. 3x-1/x-2=5/x-2 +1
2. 2/b-2-5/b+7=2/b^2+5b-14

For question 1.
3x-1/x-2=5/x-2 +1 ===>multiply both sides by (x-2)

3x-1=5+x-2 ===>solve for x

x=2


for question 2, is it 2/(b^2+5b-14) or just 2/b^2

i believe question two is [2/(b-2)]-[5/(b+7)]=2/(b^2+5b-14)

first factor the polynomial in the right side of the equation in the denominator

[2/(b-2)]-[5/(b+7)]=2/(b+7)(b-2) ===>multiply both sides by (b+7)(b-2)

2(b+7)-5(b-2)=2 ===> use distribution to eliminate your parentheses

2b+14-5b+10=2 ===>solve for b

b=22/3
