3y=39-7x
2x=54-3y

Possible answers:
a. x= -5
b. x= -6
c. x= 0
d. no solution

39 - 7x = 54 - 2x
- 15 = 5x
x = - 3

- 6 = 54 - 3y
3y = 60
y = 20

x = - 3 , y = 20

Solve for y by dividing both sides of the first equation by 3. Plug this value for y into the second equation. This will solve for y. Plug numerical value for y into second equation. This will solve for x.
