Let x = 1/4,Let x = 1,......
In what situation is each of the following
statements true? Provide an example to
support each answer.
a) The square root of a number is less than
the number.
b) The square root of a number is greater
than the number.

Okay so at first I thought It was Positve and Negative... But ... That does not work so I am lost

-
a)
Equation form: √x < x

This is only true if x > 1
Let x = 1, √1 = 1
Let x = 1/4, (√(1/4) = 1/2) > 1/4
Let x = 4, (√4 = 2) < 4

b)
Equation form: √x > x

This is only true if 0 < x < 1
Let x = 0, √0 = 0
Let x = 1/4, (√(1/4) = 1/2) > 1/4
Let x = 1, √1 = 1
