I got 0.11? Is it right???
2) Change to a fraction: 0.375

I know its 0.77777778, though how do you shorten it?
4) 48% of an orchardist's trees are apple trees. 32% are pear trees, and the remainder are plum.
If he has 180 plum trees, what is the total number of trees in his orchard?
5) When Mary bought a computer priced at $1800, she received a student discount of 15%. How much did she pay for the computer?
This last one I have done, although I'm not sure if its right:
6) Bill scored 60% for a chemistry test. If his actual score was 48, what was the maximum mark possible for this test?

110% = 1.10 = 110 percent Examples: 50 % = 0.50 47 percent = 0.47 26% = 0.26
99 percent = 0.99 and 100% = 1.00 and 10% = .10 so 110% = 1.10 = 110 percent.
0.375 = 375/1000 = (dividing top and bottom by 5 ) = 75 / 200 = dividing top and bottom again
by 5 = 15 / 40 = (divide by 5 again) = 3/8 = 0.375
7/9 = 7 divided by 9 = 0.778 make it as short or long as needed because they are all 7 after the decimal.
And 7 is greater than 5 so you may end it in 8.
48% apple trees. 32% pear. and x plum. 48 + 32 = 80%. 100 minus 80 = 20%
20 per cent = plum ....to make 100%. of trees. ..... 20 + 48 + 32 = 100%
There are two easy ways to figure the computer cost. 15% discount means she paid 100 - 15 = 85%
1800 times 0.85 = 1530 dollars.......OR: 1800 times 15% = 270 dollars.....$1800 - $ 270 = $1530
Lets use a ratio for the chemistry test. 60 is to 100 as 48 is to what?......60/100 = 48/X
We cross multiply to get 60x = 4800......x = 4800/60.....x = 80 maximum score possible.
In using ratios the product of the means (100 and 48 ( in this case ) = the product of the
extremes (60 and X).
