Can someone please explain to me how to solve these?? I don't know what to do with the exponents ):
a) (5.825)^(x-3) = 120

b) 18(1.2)^(2x-1) = 900

a) (5.825)^(x-3) = 120
ln(5.825)^(x-3) = ln 120
(x-3)ln(5.825) = ln 120
x-3 = ln 120/ln(5.825) = 2.717
x = 5.717

b) 18(1.2)^(2x-1) = 900
(1.2)^(2x-1) = 50
(2x-1)ln 1.2 = ln 50
2x-1 = ln 50/ln 1.2 = 21.457
2x = 22.457
x = 11.228
