I really want to be a doctor but people are always discouraging me by telling me that i will have no life aside from my job. I'm a really smart guy and i really want to go to med school but i would like to enjoy my youth (my twenties). I'm not saying im a party animal or anything like that but i do enjoy going out with friends, concerts, playing guitar, boxing, traveling, and dating. Will i still have time for these things if i go into a career in medicine? Im not really expecting to start a family though until at least after medical school. I do know some specialties have more free time than others but im still not completely sure. I just dont want to be that typical doctor on tv who has a ton of money and a big house but lives by himself or who has no time for his family. I'm kind of stuck in a hole though because i REALLY want to become a doctor.
