Medco called and they offered to send me a 3 month supply of my Ativan for 45% cheaper than getting it filled at the pharmacy each month. However, isn't sending a three month supply of Ativan to a Bipolar person dangerous? I thought that you couldn't get that much of a benzodiazepine medication at one time?

In general, controlled meds in the benzo class can be dispensed in 90 day quantities, unless the doctor specified only 30 days at a time.
How dangerous it is depends on the patient. I've met bipolar patients that are well balanced, others that aren't. The prescriber knows the patient better, so it's on their shoulders.
The real reason they called is that it's cheaper for THEM. They're not really doing it out of concern for you. Generic ativan is pretty cheap anyway.
