I'm doing a project for school and I'm quite curious if someone who took 150mg of something that could kill you and was fine with it. Could they take that same dose at a later date but die?

Yes. It's the concept of tolerance. The easiest example to visualize - alcohol. If you're a heavy drinker, you might be able to finish an entire liter of vodka and still be fine (relatively speaking of course). However, if you've given up drinking for a while, and all of a sudden you try and finish a liter of vodka, you'll probably end up in the hospital.
