convert to like units.0.To decide on which tabs,2) 500mg / 400mg = 1.Since splitting pills to 1/4 isnt accurate, use the 500mg tabs.......
A patient is given a prescription for 0.5 g of a medication. The medication is available in both 250 mg and 400 mg tablets. Which product should be use? How many tablets would the patient take for each dose?

First of all, convert to "like" units.

0.5g = 500mg

To decide on which tabs, look at below:

1) 500mg / 250mg = 2 tabs
2) 500mg / 400mg = 1.25 tabs

Since splitting pills to 1/4 isn't accurate, use the 500mg tabs. Two of them per dose
