A rhododendron is a flowering shrub in the heath family. Wild rhododendrons are medium-sized to large bushes with glossy oval leaves and attractive white-to-pink trumpet-shaped flowers. Rhododendrons and azaleas (azaleas are a type of smaller, more delicate rhododendron) are also popular garden plants; the garden varieties come in a rainbow of colors and are easy to grow in a cool, moist climate.
