The individual's consciousness simply blacks out while the evil entity takes over. The individual would not remember what had transpired.

When a person is supposedly possessed, either they are in devout belief that it is real and their emotions and power of suggestion make it real to them. Or, they are pulling a cheesy acting job and the people arond them are silly enough to believe it.

Being re-possessed is probably worse.
