when problem states Find highest point the ball reaches is that ALONG the incline or VERTICAL height.SPE = 1/2kx² = (0.5)(500)(0.mgh = (3)(9.8)h = 29.29.......
A spring with a spring constant of 500N lies on the bottom of a 30 degree ramp. A ball of mass 3kg is compressed on the spring a distance of .2m. Find the highest point the ball reaches when released.

Comment: UNITS are so important in understanding physics. A spring constant doesn't have units of FORCE but rather force/distance - so I believe U meant for this spring =>k = 500 N/m

when problem states "Find highest point the ball reaches" is that ALONG the incline or VERTICAL height. Since it is not specifically defined - I choose the latter :>)

SPE = 1/2kx² = (0.5)(500)(0.2)² = 10 J
mgh = (3)(9.8)h = 29.4h
spring energy is converted (at highest point) to ball's GPE = mgh {h = vertical height of incline}
29.4h = 10
h = 10/29.4 = 0.34 m ANS {vertical height}
