What kind of energy does a roller coaster train have when it's stopped

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-18] [Hit: ]
if it is at ground level, by definition,it is at rest, and will remain that way unless something acts upon it.-when its in motion,when its at rest,......
It has potential energy as it's going up a hill and on top of it, and that changes into kinetic energy as the train gains speed, but what kind of energy does it have after the ride is over when it's stopped? Is it potential again?

-
Yes, it is potential energy again. All objects at rest have potential energy.

-
PE = mgh and KE =1/2 mV^2

If the coaster is at rest, it has no KE because V = 0

The PE depends on the reference point to measure the height. if it is at ground level, by definition, the PE is 0

-
I would say it has no energy
unless the ride started again (pushing it up the hill producing potential energy)
it is at rest, and will remain that way unless something acts upon it.

when it's in motion, it has kinetic energy
when it's at rest, it has potential energy

-
the rollercoaster has potential energy when at rest and kinetic when in motion
