c)u find ur battery is flat after leaving it for 5hrs turned on what is the resistance on head light?answer (i) 3.6 × 105 C.(ii) 4.32 × 106 J.(iii) 0.......
A car battery is rated 1amp per hour.it delivers 1amp for 1hr before discharge.
a)if u leave the head light until its discharged completely,hw much charge flows through the light?
b)there is 12v poteintial difference how much energy can it store?
c)u find ur battery is flat after leaving it for 5hrs turned on what is the resistance on head light?

answer (i) 3.6 × 105 C.
(ii) 4.32 × 106 J.
(iii) 0.6 Ω.

First, the question wrong. The given answers only work out if the battery takes 100hours to discharge at 1A. The question should have stated:

"A car battery can deliver a steady current of 1amp for 100hours before discharge"
_______________________

a)
Current (in amps) = Charge (in coulombs) / Time (in seconds)
I = Q/t
so
Q = It

In this question a current of 1amp flows for 100hour (3600 x 100 seconds)
Q = It
= 1 x 3600 x 100
= 3.6 × 10^5C
_______________

b)
Voltage (in volts) = Energy transferred (in joules)/ Charge (in coulombs)
V = E/Q (sometime 'W' (work) is used instead of 'E')
E = VQ

In this question V = 12volts and Q = 3.6xc10^5 C

E = VQ
= 12 x 3.6x10^5
= 4.32x10^6 J

c)
The battery discharges in 100 hours if the current is 1A.
5hours is 20 times smaller than 100hours (100/5 = 20).
Since the headlight discharges the battery in only 5 hours, the current must be 20 times bigger than 1A.
So the headlight takes a current of 20A.

R = V/I = 12/20 = 0.6Ω
