Whattttt do bats eat

Just seen one flying round my house, just wondered what they eat?

the bats around our house go after the moths and other nocturnal flying insects

Fruit bats eat fruit such as oranges, lemon , bananas ..etc
Vampire bats suck the blood from birds and some mammals like chickens and pigs
Most types of bats normally eat small bugs like mosquitoes, gnats and other flying insects.
Some bats also feed on nectar .
The bulldog bat also eats fish that it catches using echolocation.
The last type of bat eats invertebrates such as lizards, frogs , birds and sometimes other bats.

So it really depends on the species. But most bats found in North America are Vesper bats. Most Vesper bats eat insect, but some species are also found eating fish or small birds.

I'm willing to bet the one you saw was an insect-eater, but if you live in say, Arizona or some other South-Western State, it could also be a nectar-eater.

In the UK, it would be flying insects of various kinds. In other parts of the world you'll also find bats that eat (among other things) fish, frogs, fruit, birds and of course the vampire bats that lap up blood.
