Wolves communicate psychologically, would it be possible, if trapped in the wild and you encounter a pack...

and they are snarling at you and angry, to somehow communicate with them?

I'm just thinking about this...because If I was ever trapped in the forest and suddenly a pack of wolves circle me, instead of fighting or running, to communicate by being submissive? Or standing tall and confident like an alpha male?

Standing tall and confident like an alpha male would lead to an immediate attack, so you'd better have the power to back up your stance.

The thing is, if you were trapped in a forest with a pack of wolves around you, you've already shown yourself to be prey, so the primary communication has already been established - you can't change it by being submissive.

Your best chance is to climb up the nearest tree, or have a way of keeping them at a distance, as with fire or similar.

Your best off playing dead, I say this because your other option doesnt work. Wolves are dogs, and when you look at a dog in the eyes, its a challenge to fight, and yes they will jump you for sure if you do that. You cant run, because if you do they will chase you, animals when they see their prey run, their first instinct is to chase after the prey and kill it.

If they think your dead, odds are they will leave you alone.

Kiss your butt goodbye.

If any predator is circling you, it has only one thing on it's mind...food.

By laying down, you'd provide a much easier meal for them. Standing tall will also get you killed. wolves are highly intelligent pack hunters and have a hierarchy for hunting and each have their own role in the kill.
If you have a weapon, that'd be your only defense. I'd say put your back to a tree, so at least they can't come at you from all sides. You'd probably still be done for...sorry!

If you're in that situation, you are either prey or a competitor. Either way, they're going to attack. Doubt there's anything you can do.
