BUT, if youre in the early days you should use your scope to learn how to observe. Theres plenty of other stuff that will look interesting; you need to know how to find it, so an astronomy book is a good start. When its time to move on to another scope, youll be ready for what to expect.......

I doubt a 70mm scope will pick the red spot. It's actually quite pink, so there isn't much contrast with the rest of the planet, the small aperture just doesn't gather enough light to get small details, and the maximum magnification is a bit low.

Are you also getting the four Galilean moons?

Resolving Jupiter as a disk, and seeing two bands is quite good for a telescope like that. Different eyepieces won't help much, if at all. You'd have to start by getting a reflector telescope with a much larger aperture to see more surface detail on Jupiter. ($$$)

Go look at other stuff. Find Venus in the west, just after sunset, and see what phase it's in. (Yes, Venus goes through phases, just like the moon.) Later at night, hit the Orion Nebula (faint star cluster below the leftmost star in Orion's belt). You'll be amazed at what that telescope can show you.

Point it at Mizar: that's the second star in the "handle" of the Big Dipper. You'll see three stars where you thought there was just one! (There are really four.)

You can have a lot of fun with that telescope without spending any money.
