Is NASA over-funded or underfunded

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-08-13] [Hit: ]
.They should be getting more. A *lot* more. NASA gets about 0.48% of the federal budget (In 1992 it was about 1%) - so, for every 100 dollars you pay in taxes,......
Should they get more of my tax dollar//or less?

BQ
How much of each tax dollar do they get now?
(I'll give that answer when I pick BA)

*WAY* under-funded....

They should be getting more. A *lot* more.

NASA gets about 0.48% of the federal budget (In 1992 it was about 1%) - so, for every 100 dollars you pay in taxes, they get about 48 cents in 2012.

They are vastly underfunded. The yearly NASA budget is less than even 1% of the total federal budget. NASA runs on about $17 billion a year. To put that in perspective do you recall the federal bailouts? GM alone received about $27 billion....... And we received absolutely nothing in return for that, except more GM cars made overseas. It's amazing all the benefits we've received from NASA, the return on the investment is definitely more than all other federal programs combined. Imagine if we were putting $30 or 40 billion a year in NASA? Of course I don't propose raising taxes to do that. But there is more than enough bulls*** we do fund federally that should be cut to come up with that amount.

During the moon landings, NASA received almost 5 cents out of every tax dollar. Since then it has dropped to a little over half a cent. With a full cent per tax dollar it could probably fund a mission to mars or a base on the moon, but the fat and the red tape should also be trimmed as well. Drop the Muslim outreach and the global warming studies and stick closer to the goal of manned exploration.

Under funded. Way under funded.

They don't have enough money to finish development (let alone construction) of their next generation launch vehicle for sending cargo and astronauts to the space station.

This was also supposed to be the basis for a manned mission to Mars.

So while it's nice that Obama has challenged NASA to get a man to Mars by 2032, without money, it's never going to happen.
