Well considering the Earth orbits the sun, there has to be sun on at least one side of the planet, so there is sun somwhere. If the Earth is somehow NOT in the sun's orbit (maybe we were hit by a large meteor?) we would either
a) Freeze to death from having no sun
b) Be killed by the initial blast.
It doesn't matter where it started - its a hoax and just one more of the ridiculous claims out there that the uneducated and gullible are panicking over.
I will be SO glad when 2012 is over and we can look forward to a new hoax...
