So for all we know, we already had a lot of people who'd surpass Einstein. Many times.
The "next Einstein" could have been a black girl who died some years ago from a curable disease in some remote village in Africa, or some kid living today in one of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro but who's only ambition in life is to find a stable paying job and not be beaten up in the playground or be killed by a stray bullet from a gang shootout, or it could be an old farmer in Pakistan who never got past learning how to read and doing basic arithmetic. There are many brilliant people that you never heard about, like Bolyai or Galois, and certainly many others who could have achieved brilliancy that would satisfy your thirst for admiration but which we'll never know about.
The age of solitary work in science is gone. Nowadays, people collaborate so there is a "collective brilliance". But I suspect that won't satisfy you.

Einstein was a product of his time, which like any species evolution favors had found a particular niche in which to flourish. Specifically, there were two great mysteries looming like clouds on the horizon around the turn of the century: relativity and quantum mechanics. Einstein capitalized on both, particularly relativity. Until that time, no one could understand why the speed of light was always the same regardless of the speed of the observer. He solved it rather handily, proving his critics wrong and going on to solve others. There were few mysteries left by the time he was done, so he spent the rest of his days in a futile effort to solve something beyond even his own ability: a grand unified theory.
