How do you calculate the doubling of bacteria over certain times

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-27] [Hit: ]
Example--1 hour, theyll multiply 3 times. So do how many bacteria you have (lets just say 3). So 3 to the power of 3 (3x3x3) is 27. Youll have 27 bacteria. I think you input a number and then this sign ^ and then the power to calculate it on a graphic calculator.......
What would be a logical way to do this?
