What do you think would happen if humans used more than 10% of their brains

Seeing dead people is not a sense. I think all of our senses would be heightened to the point where our general awareness of everything around us is much more prominent. I doubt wed become too smart for our own good. This isnt Limitless. As it says, wed be more open to surrounding stimuli,......
I know, totally random question but it was the discussion topic in my psychology class this morning and it really has me thinking. Do you think people would have access to more than 5 senses? The abilities to be pyschics? Or do you think we would become too smart for our own good?

I think you've somewhat misunderstood, the <10% hypothesis simply implies that you could perform things more efficiently. Although clearly the other ~90% hasn't been deemed crucial or we would use 100% of our brain's power at all times, as a product of natural selection. ...anyway, the idea of a human with ten times the brainpower would only result in a more capable human being, who could do things more quickly and accurately, not 'unlock' other abilities like mind-reading and what not. Think of it as boosting a computer's RAM. It may increase our ability to multitask however; so whilst not giving us any true "new" abilities, it could have the affect of allowing us to do thinks such as read in our heads and talk with other people simultaneously.

Our brain does not give us superpowers, so psychic is out of the question (right, I don't believe they're legit). There are only 5 senses. Seeing dead people is not a sense. I think all of our senses would be heightened to the point where our general awareness of everything around us is much more prominent. I doubt we'd become "too smart for our own good." This isn't Limitless. As it says, we'd be more open to surrounding stimuli, but I don't think our brain would not be any more capable of retaining information than it is now.

If we used more, I dont think we would be too smart for our own good. If we used more at that level we would be on a whole new level of thinking. Just like when we learn something new or see another way of thinking about things we move forward with thinking through that perspective
