Where are my genes at

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-05-12] [Hit: ]
There are 46 of these chromosomes inside the nucleus of every single cell in your body - I assume you know what cells are, if not, look it up or ask it in another question. Basically, your genes are spread all over your body: they tell your body what to do. Genes tell your brain how to think (but not what to think),......
Are they in my brain or something
I know dna is inside of genes but where are my genes kept safe, and if i loose them somehow will i die?

Your genes are made up of DNA codes, just like how computer programs are made up of 1's and 0's. You have 23 pairs of chromosomes - these are big chunks of DNA, and they contain the genes. There are 46 of these chromosomes inside the nucleus of every single cell in your body - I assume you know what cells are, if not, look it up or ask it in another question. Basically, your genes are spread all over your body: they tell your body what to do. Genes tell your brain how to think (but not what to think), they tell your guts how to digest food, etc. You cannot lose your genes, you are what they are. Your genes are what define you as YOU and not someone else.

I hope this is clear, if it isn't, don't be afraid to ask again - never be afraid to ask questions.

Your genes are made of DNA.

You have identical copies of your entire DNA in every cell in your body.

You can't lose them.

Not sure if your kidding or not but genes are in every cell of your body so there's really no way for you to lose them.
