Does the placenta have a life span? and is it possible the placenta can last in a pregnancy for more then 9 months? Or would it give out are something?

The placenta would most definitly give out after the baby is born if you leave it in the mothers body it can make her really sick and can cause death because its there for the baby to get vitmins and wat not its not for the moms body to keep her body would want to reject it and get it out causing infections
