When carbon is burnt in excess oxygen, the only product is carbon dioxide. calculate the volume of CO_2(g) at 120 degrees celsius and 1.20 atm produced from 2.8 g of carbon.

Need this question answered for my little sis, help much appreciated <3.

Please explain how you got the answer, Thankyou!!

It usually is necessary to write a balanced equation. But since the moles of carbon will equal the moles of CO2 formed, it isn't necessary.

So you use PV = nRT. You have the pressure, you solve for volume. You can get n, number of moles, and you are given the temperature, although convert it to degrees Kelvin.

R = 0.082 (liter)(atm)/(mole)(degree Kelvin)
