. please provide workings, i need to know how to do this i have a couple more questions like this.-0.08 mol of C weighs one gram.0.......
how can i find the average mass of one carbon atom in grams, it is not in my text book on how to do this, i am given on previous questions 0.08 mols of carbon and 1.00 g, i had to calculate the number of carbon atoms transferred which i calculated to be 1.003, it just said to use this info to calculate the average mass of one carbon atom.... please provide workings, i need to know how to do this i have a couple more questions like this.

0.08 mol of C weighs one gram.

0.08 mol times 6.022 x 10^23 atoms/mol = 4.8176 x 10^22 atoms (in one gram)

1.00 grams divided by 4.8176 x 10^22 atoms = 2.08 x 10^-23 gram / atom of C

The atomic masses listed on your chart is the average mass. It is based on the relative abundance of its isotopes, and all of their masses. After that was done they made oxygen to have mass of 16.00 as something to relate to., as it forms many oxides, and actually has 3 of it's own isotopes.. It is a very complicated procedure, which is easier to understand than to do.
