When making a soluble salt: during the acid and metal/insoluble base reaction.. after filtering off the excess do you HEAT it to evaporate the water and allow to cool? or LEAVE it to evaporate the water ? and how do you know when to do which one?

Technically it doesn't matter; you'll get the same answer either way. But heating it will evaporate the water faster.
