answers:
pisgahchemist say: Which solution....

Consider 0.10M solutions of the following:
NaCl ... reacts with AgNO3 to make AgCl(s)
CH3OH ... poorest conductor... no ions
CaCl2 ... Lowest FP, most particles when it dissolves; reacts with AgNO3 to make AgCl(s)
C2H5COOH ...
AgNO3 .... reacts with chloride compounds to make AgCl(s)
LiMnO4 .... will oxidize Cl- to Cl2 gas in acidic solution
KOH .... highest pH.... Strong base and [OH-] = 0.10M
NH4NO3

A nonvolatile solute in solution will lower the vapor pressure of water and elevate the boiling point. That is true of all of these except methanol since its boiling point is less than the boiling point of water. By the time water boils, the methanol will have boiled off and water will boil at its normal boiling point which is lower than the elevated boiling points of all of the rest of the solutions.
