No one knows why, except perhaps Mr. Camping himself. He has failed in his predictions multiple times, so one might think he would learn that he has no ability to predict anything. Personally, I think he suffers from a mental illness.

In any case, he had a stroke not long after his last failed prediction, so he is not likely to be making any more guesses.

He claims it is his religious conviction. At best, he's delusional. At worst, he's a fraud, conman, thief, trickster and snake oil salesman.
