how hot does a fire have to be? how do i make it that hot? will the copper stick to the iron cast? and what other metals could i melt into bars?

Before you go messing around with molten metals. particularly copper and copper-containing alloys, read the three pages at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles… This is dangerous stuff. I worked with a man who had what we called brass monkeys. He worked with molten brass. The fumes made him so sick he never got over it. Better find a safer hobby.
