What does D0, D1, D2, D3, D4 .... F1, F2 etc mean

D1,D2 etc refer to deformation events and are numbered with a relative chronology. The first phase of deformation is termed D1. Later phases of deformation re-deform the earlier structures to produce D2 deformation and so on. Folds associated with D1 are termed F1 and cleavage associated with D1 is termed S1. see http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/art… for an example of the use of these terms
