42 is less than 1 meter (it is .so that equals 5.I think thats the easiest way of working it out!-1 cM = 1/100 of a meter.just move the deciaml point 2 places left to get Meters.-5.......
Just so you know why the answer:

100 cm = 1 meter

So if you have

542 = x meters

You multiply 542 times 1 meter and then divide by 100 = 5.42 meters.

100cms in a meter

so 500cms would be 5 meters then 0.42 is less than 1 meter (it is .42 of a meter)

so that equals 5.42 meters

I think that's the easiest way of working it out!
