Why was hidden the research of Nicola Tesla ? how does his power generator work

Tesla notebooks and many of his papers that he was working on were mysteriously taken from his room the day he died. However, he never wrote down complete schematics of his work so most of what they (most likely the government) took was probably useless. And everything else he has is certainly not hidden if thats what you're asking.
