Give the coordinates of the x=intercept for the graph of each equation

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-16] [Hit: ]
X intercepts are (3.23,0) and (-1.23,http://canadiansport.webs.......
1. y = -x² + 2x + 4

-
To find x-intercept, set y to 0
y = -x² + 2x + 4
0 = -x² + 2x + 4
Then factor
0 = (-1)(x² - 2x - 4)
Now we have to use the quadratic equation
a= 1
b= -2
c= -4
x= 3.23, and -1.23
X intercepts are (3.23,0) and (-1.23,0)

y=-x+2x+4

To find the x-intercept, substitute in 0 for y and solve for x.
(0)=-x+2x+4

Since x is on the right-hand side of the equation, switch the sides so it is on the left-hand side of the equation.
-x+2x+4=(0)

Since -x and 2x are like terms, subtract 2x from -x to get x.
x+4=(0)

Remove the parentheses around the expression 0.
x+4=0

Since 4 does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 4 from both sides.
x=-4

To find the y-intercept, substitute in 0 for x and solve for y.
y=-(0)+2(0)+4

Multiply -1 by each term inside the parentheses.
y=0+2(0)+4

Multiply 2 by each term inside the parentheses.
y=0+0+4

Solve the equation.
y = 4

These are the x and y intercepts of the equation y=-x+2x+4.
x = - 4, y = 4

-
remember the definition of x-intercept: the point where y is zero.
solve the equation 0 = -x^2 + 2x + 4 to find the x-intercept

-
put it in your graphing calculater or solve the equation for x
