i.e. 9, 19, 29, 39.......
Q1: Isabelle wanted to arrange her football cards in pairs but was one card short. She tried to arrange them by fives and was still one card short. She finally arranged her cards by sevens. What is the least number of cards she could have had?

Q2: Find the number off palindromes between 10 000 and 99 999 that are divisible by 25?
Thanks very much for helping with my homework>

Q1)

an odd number, because pairs left one short

one short by fives means the odd numbers from the following list...

4,9,14,19,24....etc
i.e. 9, 19, 29, 39....

divisible by 7 means in the following list...

7,14,21,28....

Play out the list of divisible by 7 until you hit one ending in 9.....which is 49.

That "chick" was dead right....who be the dumb one? 7 goes into 39, does it?

Q2)

Palindrome means it reads the same backwards as well as forwards.
Numbers are 10000 to 99999 so they are 5 digits exactly in length.
Middle number is irrelevant to be a palindrome.

So, the number looks like this

xyzyx

For the number to be divisible by 25, the values of yx can only be

25, 50, 75, 00

To make a 5 digit palindrome, we cannot have x=0, which leaves us with
y=2
x=5
and
y=7
x=5

as the only possibilities.

These equate to the numbers

52z25 and 57z75

and z can range freely from 0 to 9, i.e. 10 possibilities.

The total number, therefore is 2*10=20.

the number has to be odd and not divisible by 5
