If you were born in 1998 and your 12 then to figure out the year you were born in if you were 16..
First subtract 16 from 12
This gives you 4
Second, subtract 4 from 1998
This gives you 1994

Why would anyone need a calculator to subtract 4 from 1998 or 16 from 2010 (why not 2011? Because the birthdate hasn't passed yet this year). 1994 would be the birth year.
