When 6 gallons of gasoline are put into a cars tank, the indictator goes from 1/4 of a tank to 5/8. What is the total capacity og the gasoline tank? I got 7 gallons because 5/8+1/4 = 6 gallons or 7/8 then that would be another gallon. I dont think thats right though .... help please thanks

Since it started at 1/4, then you would subtract that from 5/8 to get the total difference which equals 3/8. Since 6 gallons equal 3/8 , then 2 gallons equal 1/8. 2x8=16.

When 6 gallons of gasoline are put into a cars tank, the indictator goes from 1/4 of a tank to 5/8.

Now let's switch it up. 1/4 is 2/8, and six gallons is 3/8. So two gallons can fill up 1/8. Meaning that the tank can hold 16 gallons.
