Two and one half times a number equals one and one fifth. Find the number

So it says I have to make an equation and solve it.

How do I do that??? Please list steps if you can?

2.5n = 1.2

Divide both sides by 2.5:

n = 1.2 / 2.5 = 0.48

Or work in improper fractions:

(5/2)n = 6/5

Multiply both sides by 2/5:

n = (6/5)(2/5) = 12/25

2 1/2 x = 1 1/5
5/2 x = 6/5
x = 6/5 / 5/2
x = 6/5 * 2/5
x = 12/25

Let n = the number

Then (n)(2 1/2) = 1 1/5
(n)(5/2) = 6/5
n = (6/5)(2/6) = 2/5
