The way that you've written the equation is a little confusing. Is (4x - 5) being raised to the (2x + 5) power?

If so, since 1 raised to any power is 1, 4x - 5 must equal 1.

4x - 5 = 1

4x = 6

x = 6/4 which reduces to 3/2 (or 1 1/2 as a mixed number)

If the (4x - 5) term is being raised to just the 2x power, subtract 5 from both sides to get:

(4x - 5)^2x = -4

Sorry, I'm not sure where to go with that.
