Is it still a quadratic equation if the first differences in a table is the same

If the first difference is constant, then all the data points lie on a line.......
OK.... I have a math question. Suppose you have a table and you want to know if it is quadratic or not. I know if the second difference of the table is the same, it is quadratic but does he same rules apply is the first difference is the same? If not, please tell me what is the table/data set called. (Linear, exponential, etc.)
