let's say i have a check for 900 but i deposit 400 from it, does the other 500 remain in the check or do i have to put the balance in my account? I dont want to put the 500 in my account i just want that 500 to stay in the check, how can i do that?

Checks are not like debit cards. You have to cash it or deposit all at one time. Sorry.j
