Trig question? Help pleaaaseeee

(4 cos 45) - (2 sin 45)
I know the answer is sqrt 2, but idk how to get to it! Please show all steps!

cos 45 = sin 45 = (sqrt 2) / 2

(4 - 2) (sqrt 2) / 2 = sqrt 2

Well, you should know that first cos(45) and Sin(45) both equal sqrt(2)/2, so from there you can see that 4sin(45) equals 2sqrt(2)/2 and 2cos(45) equals sqrt(2) so the first minus the second part gives you sqrt(2).
