Help with simplifying algebra? ASAP ( only one Q)

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-04-03] [Hit: ]
(also the xs are algebra xs not multiplication xs) And there is meant to be a dividing line between the top and bottom (dividing the top by the bottom) but i couldnt do the line on the keyboard. You divide 24/6=4. x^6 divided by x^2= x^4 bc you subtract the exponents for division. And y^2 divided by y = y bc you subtract exponents (2-1=1)-Divide 24 by 6, (x^6) by (x^2) and (y^2) by y.The answer is 4(x^4)y.......
Could you please simplify this but NOT SOLVE? Thanks so much for any help in advance :)

BTW: THIS ^ MEANS LITTLE 2 (squared) and THIS * MEANS LITTLE 6. (also the x's are algebra x's not multiplication x's) And there is meant to be a dividing line between the top and bottom (dividing the top by the bottom) but i couldn't do the line on the keyboard. Thanks for your help :D

24x*y^
6x^y

or another way of typing it to make it more understandable:

24x*y^ / 6x^y

-
It's 4x^4y (4 times x to the fourth power times y)
You divide 24/6=4. x^6 divided by x^2= x^4 bc you subtract the exponents for division. And y^2 divided by y = y bc you subtract exponents (2-1=1)

-
Divide 24 by 6, (x^6) by (x^2) and (y^2) by y.
The answer is 4(x^4)y.
