86 feet). Then I secon guessed myself and did the tan of the supplement angle (87.5) and multiplied it by 100 to get 2290.38 feet, which seemed a little high.Now,......
From a 100-foot roof of the condominium on the coast, a tourist sights a cruise ship. The angle of depression is 2.5*. How far is the ship from the coast?

First, I tried doing the sin of 2.5 and multiplying it by 100, (I got 133.86 feet). Then I secon guessed myself and did the tan of the supplement angle (87.5) and multiplied it by 100 to get 2290.38 feet, which seemed a little high.

Now, I'm third guessing myself by assuming both my answers are wrong, please help!

Set it up like a triangle to make things easy. Theta is 2.5*, and the opposite leg is 100 ft.

Tan(2.5*) = 100 / Adjacent

Adjacent = 100ft / Tan(2.5*)

Adjacent (or how far the ship is from the cost) is approximately 2290.38 feet.

You got it right, nice!
