which is denoted as q. So q=1-p=1-.8=.2.......
. mean = np = 76(.8) = 60.8

variance = npq = 76(.8)(.2) = 12.16

std. dev. = sqrt 12.16 = 3.49

Can anyone Enlighten me on where the .2 for q comes from if I only know n and p to begin with?

p= prob of success; prob of failure is 1-p, which is denoted as q. So q=1-p=1-.8=.2.
