How do you divide a fraction by a negative fraction

for example 7/9 / -5/6

the negative sign is in the middle of the fraction not on top or bottom

This is a little song my algebra teacher taught us. "Dividing fractions, as easy as pie. Just flip the second and multiply!" so the equation will change to 7/9 • -6/5. When the negative is in the middle, put it to the top and multiply across. You should get -42/45.

to divide fractions you need to multiple by the reciprocal. which means change the division to multiplication and flip the second fraction
so. the reciprocal of -5/6 is -6/5
so,
7/9 * -6/5
now to multiply fractions it's top by top, bottom by bottom.
7*-6=-42, 9*5=45
so 7/9 * -6/5 = -42/45
now simplify, meaning find the largest number that divides both 42 and 45, which is 3!
-42/45=-14/15

you multiply the numerator by the reciprocal of the denominator, and since one is positive and one is negative, the answer will be negative.

7/9 * -6/5 = -42/45

You divide by a fraction by multiplying with the reversed fraction. In your case it's be:
7/9 : -5/6 -> 7/9 · -6/5 -> -14/15

After using the reciprocal of -5/6, multiply straight across.....7/9 * -6/5 =-63/45
