If the ride lasts 160 SECONDS, How many times will a person be at the top of the ride, and and what times? Please show work! Thanks for your help! :)))-What was wrong with my answer when you asked this same question an hour ago?......
A ferris wheel is built that the height h (IN FEET) above ground of a seat on the wheel at the time t(IN MINUTES) can be modeled by: h(t)=53+50sin[ (pi/16)(T)-(pi/2)]
The wheel makes one revolution every 32 seconds. The ride begins when t=0.

A) During the first 32 seconds of the ride, when will a person on the ferris wheel be 53 feet above ground?

B.) When will a person be at the top of the ferris wheel for the first time during the ride? If the ride lasts 160 SECONDS, How many times will a person be at the top of the ride, and and what times? (Hint use a calculator)

Please show work! Thanks for your help! :)))

Alright.

There's not really a lot of work to be done here. I put the equation in my calculator. Make sure you have it set to radians also.

For the first question i plotted the equation and a second equation that is y=53. Then i saw where they intersected. I looked at that x-value and that's how I got '8'.

For the second question, you just need to think, "if the wheel makes a revolution every 32 seconds, it will be at the top halfway through the revolution, aka 16 seconds" Then if the ride lasts 160 seconds, what is 160 divided by 32? 160/32=5. You will be at the top 5 times. The first time you are at the top is at 16 seconds, and in 32 second intervals after that for a total of 5 times.

And that's about it.
