0.x - 0.0.x = 60/0.......
A company wants to increase the 30% peroxide content of its product by adding pure peroxide(100% peroxide). If X liters of pure peroxide are added to 600 liters of its 30% solution, the concentration, C, of the new mixture is given by the formula below. How many liters of pure peroxide should be added to produce a new product that is 40% peroxide?

C=x+0.3(600) /x+600

the amount of pure peroxide needed is ? liters

thanks

Total initial quantity of pure peroxide in 600 litre solution = 30% of 600 or 0.3*600
if add x litre of pure peroxide to this solution then new quantity of peroxide will be = (x + 0.3*600)
and total solution will be = (600 + x) litre
therefore concentration of peroxide will be C = Qty of peroxide / Total qty.
C = (x + 0.3*600) / (x + 600) -----. this what you have been given
now also you know this new concentration should be 40% or 0.4 , hence

0.4 = (x + 0.3*600) / (x + 600) ; or
0.4*(x + 600) = (x + 0.3*600)
0.4x + 240 = x + 180
x - 0.4x = 240 - 180
0.6x = 60
x = 60/0.60 = 100 litre

so they have to add 100 litre of pure peroxide to bring the solution to a 40% level

Hope this helped
